Cleaning fixtures and lamps is usually not among the most favorite cleaning activities. Especially with crystal chandeliers, it can be difficult to reach the parts without tools like a stool or ladder. But don’t worry! We have prepared practical tips on how to effectively restore your chandelier’s shine and enchanting sparkle.

Ideally, clean your chandelier several times a year.

For basic maintenance, dry cleaning is sufficient, which removes dust and small dirt. Before cleaning, remember to turn off the chandelier and let the bulbs cool down. Then, gently wipe individual parts of the fixture with a soft, dry cloth.

If the chandelier begins to lose its luster, it’s time to move on to wet cleaning, which will bring back its charm. We recommend using this method at least once a year to remove dirt such as insect residues or grease, which a dry cloth cannot remove.

Before wet cleaning, again turn off the electrical supply!

Lay plastic sheeting or an old sheet under the chandelier. Prepare a bucket with warm water and a window cleaning agent, a cup for rinsing, and an empty container to catch water. For safety reasons, it’s advisable to cover the sockets with plastic wrap and rubber bands to prevent water from getting in. Never pour water directly onto bulbs and sockets; clean them at the end with a damp cloth.

When rinsing, hold the empty container under the chains and glass parts you are cleaning. Use a cup to pour water with cleaning agent onto each part, catching the runoff in the prepared container. It’s best to do this with two people – one pouring, the other holding the container to catch the runoff.

Once the entire chandelier is rinsed, clean any unwashed areas (around the sockets, bowls) with a damp cloth, then use a dry cloth to wipe the chains and glass parts dry. Metal parts should only be wiped with a damp cloth, without any cleaning agents.

After wet cleaning, allow the chandelier to dry thoroughly for several hours before turning it back on.

If this process seems too complicated or time-consuming, you can also try a special cleaning spray designed specifically for chandeliers. Before applying the spray, again cover the floor with plastic or an old sheet. Evenly spray the entire chandelier and then gently wipe each part with a soft cloth.

By following these simple steps, you will ensure your crystal chandelier remains beautiful and shiny for many years!
